At least 11 people were injured when a jeep veered off the road and fell about 15 meters down at Madkina in Biruwa Rural Municipality–4 of Syangja.
According to the District Police Office, the jeep (Ga 1 Ja 7084) was heading from Ghumti of Putalibazar towards Biruwa on Monday evening when it lost control and crashed off the inner road section.
There were 15 people, including the driver, on board at the time of the accident. The injured were rescued and sent to the Provincial Hospital in Putalibazar for treatment. Some of the injured are reported to be in moderate condition.
The injured include 8-year-old Angel Nepali, 13-year-old Krischal Darji, 50-year-old Man Singh Gurung, 59-year-old Dalmaya Gurung, and 65-year-old Rem Kumari Basyal, all from Biruwa Rural Municipality–4.
Similarly, 57-year-old Chandra Subba Gurung, 33-year-old Sharmila Nepali, and her two-and-a-half-year-old son Krishna Nepali from Putalibazar Municipality–7 were injured. Also injured are 60-year-old Bishnumaya Gurung from Pokhara–11, 60-year-old Bimala Gurung from Pokhara–15, and 56-year-old Sita Wagle from Pokhara–17.
A team of 16 police personnel, led by a police inspector, was deployed to the site for rescue operations. Police said further investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
