Durga Prasai Remanded in Custody for Five Days
District authorities in Bhaktapur have granted permission to keep Durga Prasai, coordinator of the Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture and Citizen Protection Grand Campaign, in custody for five days.
The District Administration Office, Bhaktapur, approved the remand after Prasai was arrested from his residence in Bhaktapur on Sunday. An investigation has been initiated against him on charges related to offenses against public peace.
Prasai was previously arrested in Kathmandu on Falgun 4 and released on Falgun 13. He has been making public statements claiming that the election would not take place. The House of Representatives election is scheduled for Thursday, Falgun 21. The court has authorized his detention until that date, and the five-day remand period has come into effect from today.
