Police in Surkhet have taken action against a group of middlemen accused of obstructing public service delivery. A total of 16 individuals were detained from the Transport Management Office and the Land Revenue Office.
According to police, the group had been charging service seekers money by promising to expedite services such as vehicle renewals and land ownership transfers. Their activities were reportedly interfering with the regular procedures of the offices, prompting authorities to intervene.
Among those detained, 10 were arrested from the Transport Office in Birendranagar, while 6 were taken into custody from the Land Revenue Office. The group includes both men and women.
Police have described the case as an example of irregularities within the public service system and stated that further investigation is underway. Authorities also said monitoring will be intensified to prevent such activities in the future.
