A bus accident occurred today (Tuesday) near Maidhara Chowk, Shivsatakshi Municipality-10, Jhapa, leaving 19 passengers injured. The bus, bearing registration number PR 01 001 K 4209 and traveling from Manthali, Ramechhap to Kakarvitta, went out of control and overturned about 10 meters off the road on the East-West Highway in Jhapa.
According to DSP Khagendra Bahadur Khadka of the District Police Office, the injured were immediately taken to Birtamod Hospital for treatment, while six passengers continued safely to their destinations. The bus, carrying 25 passengers, remains at the accident site, and traffic on the road is not affected.
Among the injured are bus driver Raju Bhujel (39), Iksha Limbu (17), Ravilal Ganesh (20), Parina Ganesh (21), Simitra Khadka Karki (36) and her son Elon (9), along with several other passengers from Ramechhap, Dolakha, and Jhapa districts.
Police reported that the passengers’ conditions range from mild to moderate, and all are receiving medical care. Preliminary investigations indicate the bus overturned due to loss of control, and further inquiries are ongoing.
