A total of 191 individuals remain in custody across the country for their involvement in the destruction that occurred during the Gen Z protest on Bhadra 24.
According to security officials, 933 cases have been filed nationwide, including 379 in the Kathmandu Valley.
Police reported that 963 accused individuals linked to various criminal incidents had been arrested as of Chaitra 15. Among them, 191 are still in custody for trial. Meanwhile, 474 have been released on bail. Additionally, 22 individuals were released on general date (tariq), and 239 were freed on attendance guarantees.
According to information provided by Nepal Police to BBC, nearly 700 of those arrested have been charged with criminal disorder, while 20 individuals face homicide charges.
In connection with the Bhadra 24 incident, cases have been filed against 963 individuals under 13 different categories of offenses. A total of 802 cases were registered under criminal disorder, with 691 arrests made—203 of them in Kathmandu.
Similarly, four cases related to culpable homicide have been registered, with 20 individuals arrested. Of these, three cases were filed in Kathmandu with 18 arrests, while one case in Dhading led to two arrests.
Other charges include 30 cases related to weapons, 33 for public misconduct, 4 for attempted murder, 39 for robbery and theft, 2 under the Prison Act 2079, 4 for arson and vandalism, 4 for accidental homicide, 1 for drug-related offenses, 1 for cybercrime, and 1 for abetment of suicide.
The data also shows that 78 individuals were arrested for robbery and theft, 67 for weapons-related offenses, 59 for public misconduct, and 9 for attempted murder.
