
At least 31 passengers were injured in a road accident on Monday afternoon when a passenger bus and a truck collided along the Bastipur section of the East–West Highway in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City–19, Makwanpur.
According to DSP Shyamu Aryal of the District Police Office, Makwanpur, the incident occurred when a bus (Na 6 Kha 2119) traveling from Chitwan to Birgunj suffered a tire burst, causing the driver to lose control. The bus then crashed into a freight truck (Na 6 Kha 8180) heading from Hetauda toward Chitwan. The impact caused the truck to veer out of control and hit an empty oil tanker (Na 7 Kha 1774) coming from Kathmandu toward Bara.
All 31 injured passengers from the bus and truck have been rescued and are receiving treatment at Hetauda Hospital and CMC Chure Hill Hospital. Police reported that two of the victims are in critical condition. A 25-member police team led by DSP Aryal is working to clear the wreckage and restore traffic flow on the highway.
