
Forty Nepali women who were being taken to Gulf countries as domestic workers through illegal channels via India have been rescued.
The Nepali Embassy in Delhi, with the support of the social organization ‘KIN India’, facilitated their rescue and repatriated them to Nepal today. Nepal’s Ambassador to India, Dr. Shankar Sharma, shared the news through his official Facebook account.
According to Navin Joshi, President of KIN India, the trend of Nepali women being trafficked to Gulf countries as domestic workers via India has been increasing recently. He added that many of these women face physical and mental abuse, and an alarming number end up stranded and helpless in the Gulf.
