
A total of 42 fair-price shops have been opened across Karnali Province to provide essential goods at subsidized rates for the upcoming Dashain and Tihar festivals.
According to Keshav Raj Budha, head of the Food Management and Trading Company’s provincial office, the shops will operate from Bhadra 30 to Kartik 10.
Under the scheme:
- Rice and sugar are being sold at a discount of NPR 5 per kg.
- Cooking oil is available at a discount of NPR 7 per liter.
As of Monday, subsidized food sales have already started in 18 locations, including Dunai and Jufal (Dolpa), Sarmi in Mudkechula, Manma, Padamghat, and Khallaghat (Kalikot), as well as Jajarkot headquarters, Nayakwada, and Ghogi.
