Around 600 containers carrying vegetables and fruits are stranded at Miteripul as the Kodari Highway remains blocked by a landslide.
It has been 12 days since a landslide, along with mud, fell in Eku, Bhote Koshi Rural Municipality–2. Arjun Sapkota, President of Nepal Truck Container Transport Service, told RAS that the blockage has made it difficult not only for vehicles but also for pedestrians to pass. The landslide has covered an area of approximately two kilometers.
Sapkota added that efforts to clear the landslide by private operators have started, but there has been no significant intervention at the government level so far.
Meanwhile, Amit Kumar Shrestha, Chief of the Charkot Road Division Office, stated that the continuous flow of mud is preventing road clearance, but once it stops, heavy machinery will be deployed to reopen the highway.
