Prachanda Emphasizes Elections Must Be Held on Time
Former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stressed that elections must be held within the stipulated time. Speaking to journalists in Janakpur, he said that the government should take the issue seriously and create an environment conducive to conducting the elections.
Prachanda, who is also the coordinator of the CPN (Maoist Centre), said that although the dialogue held by the government with parliamentary parties yesterday indicated that the government is gradually becoming serious about the elections, the necessary environment has still not been created.
He recalled that the Maoist Centre was the first party to decide that the interim government should focus solely on elections after the announcement of the election. He also claimed that his party was the first to issue a public appeal following the JNG movement and to organize programs outside the Kathmandu Valley in the Madhes Province.
Speaking about left unity and polarization, Prachanda said that the parties within the Socialist Front have moved forward in the process of unity. He expressed confidence that a new scenario of left unity would emerge after the Chhath festival.
