122 Political Parties Currently Registered in Nepal: Election Commission
According to the Election Commission, a total of 122 political parties are currently registered in the country.
At a press conference on Sunday, the Commission’s spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said that the same number of parties that were registered on the day of the election announcement remains unchanged today.
During this period, seven political parties were deregistered, while seven new parties received registration certificates.
Among the deregistered parties, one was removed as per a Supreme Court order, while the remaining six were dissolved at the request of their own leadership.
Currently, 28 parties are in the process of registration at the Commission.
Following the dissolution of the House of Representatives on Bhadra 27, the date for new elections was announced.
Although today is the final day for registering new parties for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21, spokesperson Bhattarai said that the registration process will continue regularly.
Parties that receive registration certificates will be eligible to participate in the House of Representatives and National Assembly elections.
The Commission has also stated that the voter list collection process will continue until Mangsir 5.
By Saturday evening, 285,000 citizens had visited the Commission for identity verification, while 200,000 people had applied through the National ID system.
