Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that the role of the Nepal Police will be sensitive and decisive in conducting the upcoming election in a free, fair, and credible environment.
She made these remarks while addressing the graduation ceremony of Nepal Police inspectors held in Kathmandu on Monday. Describing the forthcoming election as a milestone in Nepal’s responsible democratic journey, Prime Minister Karki reminded that ensuring such an election is the duty of the state.
She emphasized that the upcoming election must become an exemplary and standard-setting exercise for Nepali democracy. The Prime Minister also cautioned the police to ensure that no citizen is injured during the election process.
“The upcoming Falgun 21 election is a milestone in our responsible democratic journey. Ensuring a free, fair, and credible election environment is the responsibility of the state, in which the role of the Nepal Police is extremely sensitive and decisive,” she said. “In this context, I urge you to rise above any political influence, pressure, or bias and fulfill your duties in accordance with the spirit of the law. Your impartiality is the shield of democracy. Let me repeat something I have said before—this election must become an exemplary and standard for Nepali democracy. Not a single drop of blood should be shed, and no one should be injured. At the same time, be clear that the state will take responsibility for all professional actions carried out in the course of duty.”
Prime Minister Karki also directed police personnel to perform their duties above any political pressure, influence, or prejudice.
