A Turkish Airlines aircraft that took off from Tribhuvan International Airport encountered an engine-related problem shortly after departure.
According to airport sources, an “engine fire” indication was detected in one of the aircraft’s engines soon after takeoff. Following the alert, the pilot immediately adopted safety procedures and diverted the aircraft to Kolkata Airport.
The airline has confirmed that all passengers are safe, and there have been no reports of injuries or accidents so far. After the incident, emergency preparedness was activated at the airport as a precautionary measure.
Airport officials said the aircraft will undergo a detailed forensic inspection in Kolkata after landing to conduct an initial examination of the engine. The exact cause of the engine issue has not yet been confirmed.
Turkish Airlines stated that it is ensuring the safety of passengers and luggage and will release further information as it becomes available.
