Hosts India national cricket team continued their unbeaten run in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with a dominant 93-run victory over Namibia national cricket team on Thursday night at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, registering their second straight win of the tournament.
After losing the toss and being invited to bat first, India posted a massive 209 for 9 in their 20 overs. Opener Ishan Kishan played a blistering knock of 61 runs off just 24 balls. He was well supported by Hardik Pandya, who scored 52. In the middle order, Tilak Varma made 25, Shivam Dube added 23 and Sanju Samson contributed 22, while captain Suryakumar Yadav managed 12 and Axar Patel was dismissed for a duck. Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus impressed with the ball, claiming four wickets, including three in the 19th over.
Chasing 210, Namibia struggled against India’s bowling attack and were bowled out for 116 in 18.2 overs. Loren Steenkamp scored 29 and Jan Frylinck made 22, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to reach double figures. India spinner Varun Chakravarthy led the bowling effort with three wickets, while Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel picked up two wickets each.
With this win, India have collected four points from two matches in Group A and moved to the top of the table, staying ahead of Pakistan national cricket team on net run rate. India had earlier defeated the United States national cricket team by 29 runs. Namibia, who previously lost to the Netherlands national cricket team by seven wickets, remain at the bottom of the standings with their Super 8 hopes now in serious danger.
