An engineer was shot dead by an unidentified group on Sunday evening in Malangwa, the district headquarters of Sarlahi. The victim, 36-year-old Pramod Kumar Yadav, was working at the Infrastructure Development Office in Malangwa.
Originally from Sukhipur–6 in Siraha and currently living in a rented room with his wife at Malangwa–10, Debitole, Yadav was shot in the chest by an unknown group.
According to DSP and information officer Saroj Rai of the District Police Office Sarlahi, preliminary investigation shows that Yadav was called outside his residence by phone and then immediately shot. He was rushed to the Provincial Hospital in Malangwa in an unconscious state, where doctors declared him dead.
The motive behind the incident has not yet been established. Police said they have sealed suspicious areas and intensified investigation. The body has been kept at the Provincial Hospital Malangwa.
Chief District Officer Ramuraj Kadariya said that personnel from the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force Nepal have been deployed to search for the perpetrators. Security has been tightened along the Nepal–India border and movement has been strictly controlled. Following the killing of a government employee in a residential area of the district headquarters, local residents have become fearful.
