The Nepalgunj Cycling Club has launched the ‘Tour de Thakurdwara 2026’ cycling festival in Nepalgunj, starting today. Participating cyclists will tour various locations across Banke district and will visit different religious and tourist sites in Bardiya on Saturday.
The festival aims to promote cycling in the region while encouraging a healthy lifestyle, environmental conservation, tourism development, and social awareness. Organizers stated that the cycling journey will highlight the natural, cultural, and tourism potential of Banke and Bardiya at both national and international levels.
On the first day, participants will travel through Waterpark, Kantital, Siddhivinayak Lions Park, and Kohalpur’s Khadgawar Hattisaar, visit Banke National Park and Sutaia Tal, before reaching the Gabhar Valley. The cycling rally will include awareness activities, health and environmental messages, and competitive cycling events.
Cyclists will also help promote local culture, tourist destinations, and social initiatives along the Nepalgunj–Thakurdwara route. The festival features participation from both domestic and international cyclists. Organizers expressed confidence that the event will support tourism promotion and strengthen the local economy, while also raising awareness for the conservation of natural heritage. A total of 250 cyclists are participating in the festival.
