Nepal is currently experiencing the partial influence of a westerly low-pressure system in the upper atmosphere. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, cloudy conditions are prevailing in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in the mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Partial cloud cover has been observed in the hilly regions of other provinces.
Light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, along with light snowfall, is occurring at one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. Some areas of the Terai are experiencing haze.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, fog is likely in some parts of the Terai during the morning hours today. Generally cloudy conditions are expected in the mountainous regions, while hilly areas will see partial cloud cover. The remaining regions are likely to experience mainly clear weather, including most parts of the Terai.
There is a possibility of light rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in the mountainous areas of Koshi and Gandaki provinces, as well as at one or two locations in the mountainous regions of other provinces. Similarly, light rain with thunder and lightning is likely at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi and Gandaki provinces.
Tonight, fog is expected in some parts of the Terai. Generally cloudy conditions will persist in the mountainous regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, while partial cloud cover is expected in the hilly areas of Koshi and Gandaki provinces and other mountainous regions. The rest of the country is likely to remain mostly clear. Light rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning are possible at one or two places in the mountainous regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.
The department has urged residents of areas where fog, haze, rainfall, and snowfall are forecast to take necessary precautions, particularly while operating vehicles and carrying out daily activities.
