The death toll from a tipper accident in Palpa on Saturday evening has risen to four.
According to police, 33-year-old Rajan Chidi of Tansen Municipality–10 died during treatment, increasing the number of fatalities. He had been seriously injured in the accident that occurred at Rahabas in Mathagadhi Rural Municipality–7.
Earlier, three others had died in the incident: 26-year-old driver Chinta Bahadur Sunar and 26-year-old Sunil Bik, both from Sitganga Municipality–4, as well as 26-year-old Sunil Nepali from Devdaha Municipality–2.
The injured were initially taken to Lumbini Medical College in Prabhas, where three were declared dead. Rajan Chidi, who was critically injured, was later referred to Bhairahawa for further treatment but succumbed to his injuries.
The accident occurred when an empty tipper (Lu 2 Kha 4525), traveling from Jhadewa to a limestone mine in Rahabas, veered off the road and fell about 100 meters down.
Police have said that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
