Ramchandra Paudel has said that the mandate expressed by the people through elections has placed a significant responsibility on the shoulders of elected representatives.
Addressing a reception program organized by the Election Commission Nepal at Bahadur Bhawan today, he stressed the need for unity among all to work towards freedom, social justice, good governance, development, and national prosperity.
He stated that while differences in opinions are natural in a democracy, all Nepalis share a common goal of nation-building. He expressed confidence that the collective effort of representatives would help achieve that shared vision.
On the occasion, President Paudel also called on everyone to work together to uplift the living standards of citizens and realize the goals of the federal democratic republic.
Highlighting public participation, he noted that the enthusiastic involvement of citizens in exercising their democratic right to vote has reaffirmed strong faith in the democratic system and further strengthened the republic.
He also appreciated the Election Commission’s efforts in increasing voter participation, ensuring transparency and cost-effectiveness, enforcing the code of conduct, and promoting the concept of a “green election,” which contributed to making the election more credible, fair, and environmentally friendly.
Emphasizing that elections are the backbone of democracy, President Paudel thanked the government, election officials, security personnel, stakeholders, and citizens for successfully conducting the recent House of Representatives election in a peaceful manner despite challenging circumstances.
