
Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has announced that each family of those who lost their lives during the Gen-Z movement will receive NPR 100,000 for funeral expenses.
After assuming office at Singha Durbar, Minister Aryal stated that the relief will cover those who died during the events of Bhadra 23 and 24. He also confirmed that the government will observe national mourning in their memory, with the national flag flown at half-mast, and will arrange for transporting the bodies to their respective homes.
Aryal further announced the formation of an investigative committee to look into the incidents that occurred during the movement. So far, 72 people have lost their lives, and hundreds of others are undergoing treatment in various hospitals.
Appointed as Home and Law Minister on the recommendation of the Gen-Z group, Aryal took the oath of office and secrecy at Shital Niwas earlier today before formally assuming his duties at Singha Durbar.
At the ministry, he was welcomed by Home Secretary Gokarnamani Duwadi, Inspector General of Police Chandrakuber Khapung, Armed Police Force IGP Raju Aryal, and the Acting Chief of the National Investigation Department, among others.
