
Laxman Paswan, the prime accused in the murder of Ruby Kumari Sah of Rautahat, has died. According to SP Apil Raj Bohara, spokesperson of the Kathmandu District Police Office, Paswan was declared dead by doctors a short while ago.
Ruby Kumari Sah, a resident of Madhavnarayan Municipality-2, Mudbalwa, was murdered last Saturday evening. Her body was found the following morning, on Sunday, stuffed inside a suitcase and dumped on the roadside.
On Wednesday morning, Paswan was found near his house after setting himself on fire by pouring kerosene over his body. Locals spotted him and immediately informed the police.
The 30-year-old, critically injured from severe burns, was first taken to Better Nepal Hospital in Rautahat. Doctors later referred him to Kirtipur Burn Hospital for advanced treatment. He died there while undergoing treatment.
Paswan was discovered near a field by the canal close to Rajdevi Temple in Madhavnarayan Municipality-6, Rautahat. Sah’s body had earlier been found around 10 p.m. on Bhadra 7 near Mudbalwa Gate in Gaur Municipality-9, inside a suitcase.
Before attempting self-immolation, Paswan had released a video admitting to killing Sah. He had tattooed Ruby’s portrait on the right side of his chest and her name on his right arm.
Paswan was married, while Ruby Sah had married an Indian national 13 years ago. She had recently been living in Rautahat for the past few months to support her son’s education. Paswan had previously worked in Malaysia for employment.
