Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari has said that the beauty of democracy lies in establishing good governance through a competitive electoral system.
Speaking at the party registration program of the Netra Bikram Chand (Biplav)-led Communist Party of Nepal on Tuesday, Bhandari welcomed the party’s entry into the competitive political process.
“The most beautiful aspect of democracy is that good governance in the country is ensured through elections or a fair competitive system. We welcome you for coming to register your party to compete within the framework of the law,” he said.
He also drew attention to the fact that the election announced for Falgun 21 is not a periodic election but one arising from circumstances, therefore even minor errors could disrupt the process.
Bhandari further stated that although many communist parties have been registered so far, with names like Nepal Communist Party A, B, or C, this is probably the first time a party has come for registration under the exact name “Communist Party of Nepal.”
“This might be the first time a party has come exactly with the name ‘Communist Party of Nepal’,” he added.
