A private chartered aircraft carrying India’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar crashed on Wednesday morning at Baramati Airport in Maharashtra. Preliminary information suggests the aircraft skidded off the runway while landing, leading to the accident.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawar, along with his aides, security personnel, and the flight crew, sustained injuries in the crash. All the injured were immediately rescued and taken to hospital for treatment. Pawar’s condition has been reported as serious.
Following the crash, the aircraft caught fire, causing thick smoke to spread across the area. Local administration officials, security forces, ambulances, and medical teams were promptly deployed at the scene.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident.
