An all-party meeting is being held this morning to take further decisions regarding the prohibitory order imposed in Kapilvastu since Saturday.
The District Administration Office Kapilvastu stated that the curfew, which came into effect from 2 PM on Saturday, remains in place.
Assistant Chief District Officer Bhavishwar Ghimire said that the meeting will review the current situation and decide on additional measures if necessary. He also confirmed that some individuals involved in the incident have been arrested and that security has been tightened since early morning.
The curfew was imposed after tensions escalated during the celebration of Eid and Navratri in the border areas of Ward No. 2 and 3 of Maharajganj Municipality.
Police had to fire seven rounds of tear gas to bring the situation under control. During the incident, five protesters and two police personnel were injured amid the ongoing restrictions.
