All-Party Meeting Today to Finalize Parliamentary Agenda and Strengthen House Functioning
An all-party meeting has been scheduled for today to build consensus among political parties and finalize the upcoming parliamentary agenda. The Federal Parliament Secretariat has called the meeting for 11:00 AM.
The meeting aims to finalize the parliamentary schedule and discuss ways to make the House’s functioning more effective. According to Federal Parliament Secretariat spokesperson Ekram Giri, preparations are underway to table a proposal for the approval of three ordinances that were presented in the first session of the House of Representatives.
Spokesperson Giri said, “The tentative agenda includes presenting a proposal to approve the three ordinances presented in the first meeting. However, some adjustments may be made to the agenda after today’s all-party meeting at 11:00 AM.”
The meeting will also discuss the formation of a Rules of Procedure Advisory Committee to streamline House proceedings. It has been proposed that the committee will consist of no more than 21 members.
Currently, the House is operating under the old rules of procedure, but the meeting is expected to move forward with drafting a new set of rules.
With the Parliament having been inactive for a long period due to dissolution and elections, citizens’ issues that were on hold can now be raised during Zero Hour and Special Time sessions. It is likely that members will be allowed to speak during these sessions starting from today.
The Secretariat has already briefed the Speaker on initiating parliamentary practices such as Zero Hour and Special Time, ensuring that debates are substantive and focused on public concerns.
With the new leadership in place, it is expected that legislative and parliamentary oversight functions will become more effective and results-oriented. The arrival of the new Speaker has removed uncertainty, making the Parliament fully operational and functional.
