As the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 approaches, around 20,000 campaign materials pasted in violation of the election code of conduct have been removed in Dhanusha district.
The District Administration Office, Dhanusha stated that leaflets, pamphlets, banners, and posters pasted indiscriminately by various candidates within Janakpurdham sub-metropolitan city have been taken down.
According to the administration, the materials were removed from public places, electricity poles, government buildings, and roadsides where they had been displayed against the election code of conduct. In an effort to effectively implement the code, the administration had given candidates and political parties a one-day deadline on Thursday to remove materials that violated the rules.
After the materials were not removed within the given timeframe, the administration itself removed around 20,000 campaign materials on Friday, informed Chief District Officer Prem Prasad Luintel.
He said that the unauthorized campaign materials pasted at various locations in Janakpurdham had negatively affected the city’s beauty and violated the election code of conduct. He added that the materials were removed as part of enforcement measures and warned that legal action would be taken if such violations are repeated.
In particular, materials had been pasted in main market areas, intersections, public walls, and government structures. Chief District Officer Luintel urged political parties and candidates to strictly follow the election code of conduct while carrying out campaign activities.
“Any materials pasted against the rules will be immediately removed. If there is defiance, necessary action will be taken against the concerned candidates and parties,” he said. “We will strictly enforce the code of conduct to ensure a clean, dignified, and orderly election environment. We urge everyone to comply.”
