Kathmandu — An arrest warrant has been issued against former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife, former minister Arzu Rana Deuba, in connection with an investigation into alleged illegal asset accumulation.
The warrant was obtained from the Kathmandu District Court by the Department of Money Laundering Investigation, which is currently probing the case. However, the Deuba couple is presently outside the country.
Deuba had left Nepal for Singapore on Falgun 13 for medical treatment. He did not participate in the House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21. After completing regular treatment in Singapore, he reportedly traveled to Hong Kong for further medical care and family-related engagements.
Although there were earlier reports of his planned return to Nepal after completing his schedule in Hong Kong, he has yet to return.
