At least 10 people were killed when a passenger bus traveling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru caught fire in India. Many passengers sustained serious injuries in the incident. The fire broke out on Friday morning near Chinna Tekuru village in Kurnool district.
The bus was completely gutted by the fire. There were around 42 passengers on board at the time of the accident. Some of the injured are reported to be in critical condition, raising fears that the death toll could rise.
According to initial reports, the bus caught fire after a motorcycle collided with it. The motorcycle reportedly got stuck underneath the bus and struck the fuel tank, which caused the fire. However, local authorities have not officially confirmed this cause yet.
Around 19 passengers, including two children and two drivers, survived the incident. Police said a short circuit jammed the bus door, and the vehicle was engulfed in flames within minutes. Most of the survivors are reported to be between 25 and 35 years of age.
