At least nine people have died and five others are missing due to flooding in central Vietnam, a government news portal reported on Wednesday. According to the National Committee for Disaster Response and Search and Rescue, six deaths were recorded in Da Nang city, one in Hue city, and two in Quang Ngai province.
Chairing a meeting on post-flood relief and rescue with officials from the affected areas, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that severe flooding had hit central Vietnam, causing heavy rainfall in many regions. Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang reported that more than 110,000 households in Hue and Da Nang cities have been affected by the floods.
The Prime Minister urged local authorities to relocate residents from landslide-prone and flash flood risk areas and to ensure an adequate supply of essential relief materials, including food, medicine, and disinfectants, for affected communities.
