Under the ICC T20 World Cup, the final group-stage match will be played on Friday. In the last Group ‘B’ fixture, already-eliminated defending champions Australia will take on Oman.
The match between Australia national cricket team and Oman national cricket team will begin at 7:15 PM on Friday at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka.
Having lost two group-stage matches, Australia are out of contention, while Oman have suffered defeats in all three of their matches. The game is being viewed as a battle for pride. Australia started their campaign with a 67-run victory over Ireland national cricket team but then faced a 23-run defeat against Zimbabwe national cricket team and an eight-wicket loss to Sri Lanka national cricket team. Their early exit has made this World Cup a disappointing one for the former champions.
Oman, meanwhile, are yet to register a win. They lost to Zimbabwe by eight wickets in their opening match, suffered a 105-run defeat against Sri Lanka in the second game, and were beaten by 96 runs by Ireland in their third outing. This will be their final group-stage match.
The Super Eight stage begins on Saturday. Out of 20 participating teams, 12 have been eliminated, while eight teams have advanced to the next round.
The Super Eight has been divided into two groups, with each team facing the others in their respective groups. The top four teams from the two groups will advance to the semifinals.
In Super Eight Group 1, India national cricket team, South Africa national cricket team, West Indies cricket team, and Zimbabwe are placed. Group 2 features England cricket team, New Zealand national cricket team, Pakistan national cricket team, and Sri Lanka.
In the opening Super Eight match on Saturday, Pakistan will face New Zealand. The match will start at 7:15 PM in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
