General Secretary of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist), Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’, has said that the determination to fulfill the dream of the communist movement remains intact. Speaking at a party polarization program of the NCP (Maoist) held in Kathmandu on Friday, he stated that he would not let the Nepali people down even if it required personal suffering or sacrifice.
Biplav said the party still holds firm to the vision that inspired them to join the communist movement and stressed that there is a deep commitment to see that dream realized. He added that party cadres currently active in the movement aspire to dedicate their lives to the people and the soil of the country.
He also urged Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to return to the Maoist fold, claiming that Prachanda had drifted far away after failing to carry and uphold the heavy responsibilities of the Maoist movement. Biplav further called on former Maoist fighters to return if they still possess consciousness of the struggle and remembrance of the sacrifices made by their comrades.
Stating that a communist party does not become strong merely by gathering large numbers of people through greed and temptation, he argued that failure to stand by one’s own ideology and protect the history one has created leads to distortion within the movement. He said this reality is evident today and reiterated his appeal for Prachanda to return.
Biplav also noted that new political parties are emerging daily while old parties are declining and attempting reorganization. He said processes of unity and division are taking place simultaneously and that the revolutionary movement is undergoing major ups and downs. He added that the public has begun to act against leaders who, in their view, have transformed from representatives of the working class into exploiters and looters.
