
Birgunj Metropolitan City has decided to extend school holidays for an additional three days in light of the ongoing cholera outbreak in the city.
According to Anand Lamichhane, Chief of the Education Administration Division, the decision was made during a meeting chaired by the Mayor today. As per the decision, all community and institutional schools under the metropolitan area will remain closed from Bhadra 11 to 13 (Wednesday to Friday).
During the closure period, the metropolitan office has instructed schools to mobilize teachers and staff to conduct awareness campaigns in communities within their service areas to help control the spread of cholera.
Earlier, schools in Birgunj had already been closed on Sunday and Monday due to the outbreak.
