Vice President of the Nepali Congress, Bishwaprakash Sharma, has said that the party is not stuck in its old history but has changed in line with the demands of the time.
Addressing a manifesto assembly organized by the Nepali Congress at Tirhutiya Gachhi in Janakpur on Wednesday, Sharma stated that while the party takes pride in its historic achievements, it has also undergone transformation through a special general convention.
“We are proud of what the old Congress accomplished. But time demanded that Congress change and that political parties transform. When you call us old, understand that it is a Congress you can be proud of. And if anyone has changed in the present, Congress has changed through a special general convention. At this time, the question is not who will win, but who will handle the nation. Managing the country is the main issue,” he said.
Sharma added that winning or losing elections is not unusual for the party. “Congress has won elections many times; victory is not something new for us. Congress has also lost elections many times; defeat is not new either. But the question today is whether the current system will win or lose. The question is who can foster harmony in society,” he said.
