Twenty-six passengers were injured when a bus met with an accident at Banakaswasama in Kapilvastu district along the East–West Highway last night.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Rependra Singh of the District Police Office, a bus (registration number Na 1 Kha 4373) heading from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu became uncontrollable and overturned.
He said that rescue operations were carried out immediately after the accident.
Among the injured, 17 are receiving treatment at Sanjivani Hospital in Chandraghanta, while three others are being treated at a basic hospital.
Police Inspector Santosh Ghimire of the Ward Police Office, Chandraghanta, said that six more injured passengers are undergoing treatment in Butwal. He also added that an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
