A bus accident on the Jaharsinghpauwa–Sankhu road in Kathmandu has claimed the lives of five people, while 33 others are receiving treatment at various hospitals.
The bus, bearing registration number BA 4 Kha 8788, crashed on Wednesday evening. Initially, three women and two men were reported dead. Later, during treatment, approximately 55–60-year-old Arjun Lamichhane from Gokarneshwar Municipality–5, Jorpati, passed away around 12:30 AM, bringing the total death toll to five.
According to SP Pawan Bhattarai, spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police, the deceased include 49-year-old Kamana Sharma from Kohalpur Municipality–5, Banke (currently residing in Budhanilkantha), 51-year-old Indira Limbu from Pathivara–5, Taplejung (currently in Budhanilkantha–7), 55-year-old Shanti Gupta from Siraha (currently in Pepsi Cola), 65-year-old Devendra Limbu from Panchthar (currently in Gothatar), and Arjun Lamichhane.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident, while details on the condition and treatment of the injured are still being compiled.
