A case has been filed against five individuals on the charge of abetment of suicide in connection with the death of model and TikToker Aanchal Nath.
Based on police investigation, the District Government Attorney’s Office, Kathmandu registered the case at the District Court.
The accused are:
- Sanju Bik (26), Dailekh
- Urmila Bik, Rukum
- Saraswati Bhandari (26), Sindhupalchok
- Rajesh Budha (22), Kailali
- Laxmi Budha
Among them, only Sanju Bik has been arrested, while the other four have been listed as absconding defendants. The case demands up to five years of imprisonment for the accused.
The 21-year-old Nath had been living in Thimi, Bhaktapur, and had reportedly come in contact with the accused through TikTok. After a dispute, Nath’s uncle filed a complaint with the police claiming that she had received threats from the accused.
On Ashoj 9, Nath set herself on fire by pouring petrol over her body and was critically injured. She was rushed to Kathmandu Medical College, Sinamangal for treatment, but she died on Ashoj 11.
Following investigation, police recommended filing a case against those who had allegedly threatened Nath, charging them with abetment of suicide.
