Dozens of protesters were injured after police opened fire during the Gen Z demonstrations in Kathmandu, leaving Civil Hospital overwhelmed with casualties.
The hospital’s emergency ward could not accommodate all the injured, forcing doctors to treat patients in the OPD section as well.
Dr. Subash Banjade, one of the attending physicians, said that more than 150 injured people were receiving treatment and described the hospital as overcrowded and unable to cope. He added that ambulances were urgently needed to transfer patients to other hospitals.
According to Civil Hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. Dipak Paudel, one injured protester has already died.
