Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma has said that the party should not demand the restoration of parliament. Speaking at a program today, Sharma stated that since the date for the next election has already been announced, there is no need to push for the reinstatement of parliament.
He acknowledged that some party leaders support the idea of restoring parliament but noted that, amid political complexities, the president is urging parties to form a new government and move toward elections.
Sharma expressed support for the demands raised by the Gen-Z movement but criticized the absence of Gen-Z representatives in the government formed under the leadership of Sushila Karki following the movement.
“Gen-Z sacrificed when it was time for sacrifice, and fought when it was time for change. But we must seriously question the decision to give completeness to the government without Gen-Z’s representation,” he said.
Sharma further mentioned that if deemed necessary by the central committee, or if 40 representatives demand it, a special general convention of the Nepali Congress could be held.
