Nepali Congress leader Dr. Sunil Sharma said he held discussions with Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah regarding the restoration of the parliament.
After meeting at the residence of Balen’s associate Kumar Benjankar in Kupandol, Lalitpur, Sharma gave a brief statement, confirming that their conversation focused on what would or would not happen if the dissolved House of Representatives were reinstated.
Sharma, a former member of the dissolved House, added that he was not aware of Balen’s discussions with other parties and groups.
“I don’t know what discussions are taking place with others,” Sharma said.
Responding to questions about his political future, Sharma clarified that he envisions himself as the Congress president in 5–10 years and has no intention of leaving the party.
Asked whether he would now leave Congress, Sharma replied, “We are the ones who will become the party president in 5–10 years. Why would we leave?”
