Constitution Day is being observed today with various programs across the country. The main ceremony is scheduled for 8:30 this morning at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel, with President Ramchandra Paudel as the chief guest.
Prime Minister Sushila Karki will address the program. However, in view of the current political situation, cultural processions and special displays have been suspended this year.
Nepal’s Constitution was promulgated on Ashwin 3, 2072 BS, as the outcome of the long and sacrificial struggle of the Nepali people. Following the second Constituent Assembly elections, the Assembly finalized and issued the “Constitution of Nepal 2072” after years of effort and debate.
On the night of Ashwin 3, 2072, then-President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav officially announced the promulgation of the Constitution from the International Convention Centre, New Baneshwor, which served as the Assembly’s meeting venue.
