A contempt of court case has been registered in the Supreme Court against Prime Minister Sushila Karki.
Advocate Prem Silwal filed the case, stating that the Prime Minister failed to comply with the Supreme Court’s order to delay the implementation of the government’s decision to recall ambassadors. According to Supreme Court spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala, the hearing has been scheduled for 7 Mangsir.
The current government had decided on 30 Asoj to recall ambassadors appointed by the previous administration in 11 countries.
Earlier, a joint bench of Justices Saranga Subedi and Shrikant Paudel had issued an interim order on 16 Kartik, instructing the government to maintain the status quo and not implement the recall decision immediately.
However, the day after the order, the government directed the ambassadors to return and report to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs—prompting the contempt petition. Advocate Silwal said the case was filed to uphold respect for the court and maintain the rule of law.
