A corruption case has been filed against 19 individuals, including former Vice-Chancellor of Rapti Institute of Health Sciences, Dang, Sangeeta Singh Bhandari.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Thursday registered a corruption case at the Special Court against Bhandari, Acting Registrar Kailash Prasad Dev, Director Sagar Bhandari, and others.
They are accused of corruption in the procurement of a 128-slice CT scan machine. The CIAA has demanded recovery of Rs 72,524,030 along with punishment from the 19 accused.
The institute had purchased the equipment in 2076 BS (2019 AD). According to the CIAA, the equipment was procured without proper technical specifications, resulting in misuse of state property.
Others named in the case include Dr. Bom BC, biomedical engineer Sharad Bhandari, Ashutosh Bhandari, consultant biomedical engineer Amit Kumar Chaudhary, lecturer Dr. Srisia Pokharel, section officer Jhankar Lamichhane, Leela Kumari Devkota, Megh Bahadur Adhikari, IT officer Hiralal Bhandari, accounts officer Rajiv Basnet, pharmacy supervisor Krishna Prasad Joshi, staff nurse Bindu Paudel, physiotherapist Pooja Thakur, and computer assistant Satish Bahadur Shah.
The CIAA has also filed a case against the supplier company Himalayan Meditech, along with company representatives Amar Shrestha and Sanju Rajkarnikar.
