CPN-UML Chair and outgoing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has been released from the army barracks, UML Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali confirmed.
During the Gen Z protests, the Nepal Army had taken Oli under control for security reasons. Oli, who had been staying in the army barracks since September 9 (24 Bhadra), has now been relocated to Gundu, Bhaktapur.
According to security sources, a rented house has been arranged for Oli in Gundu. His residence in Balkot was damaged after protesters set it on fire, prompting the relocation.
UML Politburo member Mahesh Basnet arranged the house for Oli. In a public statement, Basnet also mentioned plans to reintroduce Oli in a grand program.
