Mahesh Basnet, a Politburo member of CPN-UML, has recorded his statement at the Nepal Police Cyber Bureau.
Basnet appeared at the bureau in Bhotahity on Wednesday morning in connection with a case under the Electronic Transactions Act. According to police sources, he gave his statement regarding the allegations against him and left after completing the process.
Earlier, the police had requested an arrest warrant against Basnet from the Kathmandu District Court, but the court refused to issue the warrant. As a result, his statement was recorded instead.
The complaint against Basnet was filed by Shobha Pathak. Since the investigation did not progress initially, the Government Attorney’s Office recently instructed the police to proceed with the investigation.
