The ward office of Pokhara Metropolitan City–17, which was damaged during the Gen-Z protests, has resumed operations with support from the local community.
After elected representatives appealed for assistance, various local organizations and individuals provided essential materials needed to run the office.
According to Ward Chair Radhika Shahi, computers, printers, photocopy machines, CCTV cameras, drinking water supplies, and necessary furniture were donated by residents.
Shahi shared that Gomadevi Shrestha, a resident of Aankha Hospital Chowk in Pokhara-17, brought a water dispenser, jars, and glasses to the office. Following her contribution, support poured in from 46 organizations and individuals.
“The old ward office in Birauta was dilapidated and cramped, causing difficulties in service delivery. A new building constructed at Damside on five ropani of land at a cost of Rs 45.8 million had begun service from Bhadra 15. But the building was reduced to ashes during the protests of Bhadra 24,” she said, expressing sorrow over the damage to public property.
In the Gen-Z protests, 26 ward offices, including the main Pokhara Metropolitan City office, were set on fire.
