The Daunne road section of the East-West Highway in Nawalpur has been blocked once again. According to Police Inspector Rajan Timilsina of the Dumkibas Area Police Office, vehicles are unable to move uphill in Daunne due to the slippery road surface.
“As soon as it rains lightly, the road becomes slippery and vehicles can’t move. Sometimes vehicles break down in the middle of the road causing issues, and other times landslides block the road,” Inspector Timilsina said. “It’s unpredictable when and why the road will be blocked.”
The Narayanghat–Butwal Road Project has informed that vehicle movement has been affected due to the road obstruction, and efforts are underway to clear and reopen the road.
Though the road had been slightly operational on Wednesday after being blocked for several days, police reported that the issue resurfaced again on Thursday. The section near Bishwakarma Temple in Binayi Tribeni Rural Municipality–2 has faced continuous disruptions.
Despite ongoing road expansion work focused on the 14-kilometer stretch of Daunne, problems persist due to the absence of proper road surfacing and blacktopping. Even light rain causes major disruptions, said District Traffic Police Office Chief, Inspector Janakraj Banjara.
