Candidates listed under the proportional representation (PR) system for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 have until 4:00 pm today to withdraw their candidacy.
According to the Election Commission, political parties had submitted their closed PR lists on Poush 13 and 14. As per the commission’s approved election schedule, candidates included in those lists are allowed to withdraw their names within the stipulated time.
Election Officer Krishna Bahadur Raut said that all concerned candidates have been formally informed about the withdrawal process. Candidates may submit their withdrawal applications at the Office of the Proportional Election Officer between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm today.
Candidates wishing to withdraw their names must submit an application in the format prescribed under Schedule 18 of the House of Representatives Proportional Election Directive, 2082. If a candidate is unable to appear in person, the application may also be submitted through an authorized representative.
Nepal’s House of Representatives consists of a total of 275 members, of which 165 are elected through the first-past-the-post system and 110 through the proportional representation system.
