A meeting is currently underway between Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, dissident faction leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala, and Dr. Minendra Rijal. Koirala, accompanied by Rijal, reached Deuba’s residence in Maharajgunj for the talks.
The discussion is focused on the special general convention called for Poush 27 and 28 by party general secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma.
According to sources close to Koirala, he met Deuba to urge him to stop the special general convention by any means.
Although the two general secretaries announced the special convention, the Nepali Congress central office has issued a statement saying that the call is not in accordance with the party statute.
