
Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City has unveiled a budget of Rs 2.20 billion (2 arba 20 crore 74 lakh 59 thousand) for the current fiscal year 2082/83. The 17th municipal assembly held on Saturday presented the policies, programs, and budget through Deputy Mayor Aindrabikram Beg.
According to the presentation, the estimated revenue sources include:
- Rs 80 crore 53 lakh 65 thousand from internal revenue
- Rs 89 crore 29 lakh as grants from the federal government
- Rs 7 crore 73 lakh 44 thousand as grants from the provincial government
- Rs 34 crore 18 lakh 50 thousand from revenue sharing
- Rs 2 crore from the Road Board
- Rs 7 crore from last year’s surplus
Budget Allocation
- Urban Planning & Physical Infrastructure: Rs 66 crore 94 lakh
- Education, Youth & Sports: Rs 46 crore 85 lakh
- Health: Rs 6 crore 99 lakh 95 thousand
- Social Development: Rs 4 crore 86 lakh 45 thousand
- Economic Development: Rs 1 crore 29 lakh
- Forests, Environment, Energy & Disaster Management: Rs 2 crore 74 lakh 50 thousand
- Law & Justice: Rs 20 lakh
- Public Land Protection: Rs 15 lakh
- Revenue Operations: Rs 43 lakh
- City Vision Program: Rs 5 crore 5 lakh
For the current fiscal year, Rs 21 crore has been allocated for the 20 wards of Dharan.
The sub-metropolitan city announced that education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, social development, and disaster management will remain top priorities. The budget presentation was delayed due to internal disputes and disagreements among the mayor, deputy mayor, and other representatives.
