Renowned director Laxman Rijal is set to make a comeback with his new film Kaji. The project was officially announced on Friday with a script and camera worship ceremony at Dakshinkali Temple.
Following the inaugural ritual, the production team headed to Syangja, where principal photography will begin on Sunday (Bhadra 8), according to Rijal.
Rijal, who has previously directed films such as Kasam, Dhuwa Yo Nasha, Alvida, and Kayara, has also been involved in productions like December Falls and Ganapati. Sharing his excitement, he said, “I agreed to direct Kaji because I finally found the script I was truly looking for.”
The film, produced under the banner of Rijal & Rijal Production, will be backed by Ram Prasad Rijal. He noted that lessons learned from past projects would be applied to make Kaji an even stronger cinematic experience.
To authentically portray Syangja’s rural setting, the production team has invested millions in building a special village set.
The cast includes prominent actors Bipin Karki, Keki Adhikari, and Garima Sharma, with additional cast members to be revealed soon. The screenplay is penned by Pradeep Bhardwaj, cinematography will be handled by Chintan Rajbhandari, and the soundtrack will be composed by acclaimed musician Kali Prasad Baskota.
